A choir gathers to rehearse for the first time with their new musical director and the story of why his predecessor left has to be confronted. This is a warm-hearted, juke-box comedy musical using hits of the mid to late 1970s, notably by The Village People, to tell a story about a group of friends supporting each other through challenges of identity. The piece is conceived as a five-actor, audience participation show for small to mid-scale touring.
Written and directed by Joe Harmston, The Village People is scheduled for workshops and a short run in the autumn of 2025, working with partner, DTC.
